MOVING to the CROSS // What’s Holding You Back?
SHAWN TAYON   -

  1. Pastor Shawn talked about being conservative with his money, time, and energy.  How do you distinguish between being a good steward and simply “holding back” from God?
  2. Mary’s worship was “counter-cultural” and “societal rebuffing.” When was the last time your devotion to Jesus felt “risky” or “undignified” to the world around you? What stops us from being that “fanatic” for Him today?
  3. Pastor Shawn identified three ways we can be like Judas: being Critical (judging others’ devotion), Selfish (chasing the American Dream over presence), and Fake (hiding behind “Christianese” or a holy mask). Which of these three “Judas tendencies” do you find most tempting in your own life? Why is it often easier to critique someone else’s “expensive” worship than to examine our own heart’s greed or pride?
  4. Jesus said, “Whoever will save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it.” What is the “treasure” currently sitting in your hands that feels the scariest to drop into the basket at the foot of the cross? What do you hope to “find” once you finally let it go?
